Three cyclists from Alberto Contador Foundation will ride the Junior Paris-Roubaix

Three riders from Flex-Alberto Contador Foundation Team were selected to join the national team of six men who will ride on April 13 the Junior Paris-Roubaix, which will be the first international experience of the season for the young cyclists directed by Félix García Casas.

Those selected are Miguel Angel Alcaide, Fernando Barceló and Angel Fuentes. The first two, who met his second season on this team, staged a brilliant performance in the last Challenge Victor Cabedo, sharing victories, two for Alcaide and one and general classification for Barceló. Meanwhile, Angel Fuentes did a great job for his team mates that has now also given results.

The manager of the Foundation and its cycling team, Fran Contador, considered that this call “means, above all, the recognition of the work of the whole team, they are no less than 3 selected from a total of 6. We are proud of this call because the support it gives to the formation work of young talents that the Foundation is doing”.

Moreover, the opportunity to travel to France is an added incentive. “Riders will have the privilege of meeting other cyclists cultures, to do a very different race to which are held in Spain and, therefore, have an opportunity to continue learning, which is one of the objectives of the Foundation”, says Fran Contador.

These trips abroad are essential for riders, “as we saw last year in Belgium”, explains Fran Contador. “We try to go abroad as much as possible. This year we are also planning to go to the Tour of Flanders, because the riders returned last year from Belgium with a great experience and learned a lot. These outputs are critical to know other ways to ride of which they will have to familiarize very soon”.

This work with the Junior team also is done with the Specialized Under 23 Team. “With them is even more important to offer races abroad”, says Fran Contador. “This year we plan to go to the Tour de Bretagne and the Three days of Peace, two races 2.2 in which we will find many continental teams, some subsidiaries of Pro-Tour teams. Although our riders are still very young, it is essential to gain experience. So we will also have a training camp in Bormio, that we will use to do some more races in Italy”, concludes Fran Contador.
