Iván Polo
Biography
The cyclist from Pucela faces the jump of category with the Contador Foundation coming from the Logos Team. Polo began his sporting career in the world of football, although at home he had his father’s great love of cycling, who in his day did have competitive experiences in formative categories. As a child, with an old Zeus, the boy from Valladolid began a path that has gradually turned him into a great rider with a very good top speed. “That fetish race that we all have would be, in my case, Paris-Roubaix. It’s the race I like the most. And because of my interests, I think I would be more of a cyclist for the classics and one-day races”, he says. “In Spain until now, the classics have not been given much importance, or at least not as much as the Tour de France or the Vuelta a España. We’ve had a great generation of riders, but essentially all of them have either been sprinters or have done well in the stage races. Pure sprinters or people who can win those races haven’t come out of the ranks”, he reflects. Polo likes the world of motorsport. “In general, I’m attracted to mechanics. I particularly like old cars or Land Rover-type 4x4s. When I finish my baccalaureate, I’m going for the technological branch, I’m going to try to study an engineering degree in the mechanics branch,” he concludes.
