Pedro García wins in Vilamarxant, second place for Iván Polo in Cabañas Raras and nice racing tests in Catalonia and Cantabria

The Murcian brothers Pedro and Héctor García Tomás competed this Sunday in an edition of the Gran Premio Vilamarxant that put the regional title in the U19 category at stake.

In the race, three laps of a circuit between the towns of Cheste, Loriguilla and Ribaroja de Turia totalling 112 kilometres, Pedro García won ahead of Héctor Sánchez (Esetec – Salazones Ricardo Fuentes) and Emilio Llopis (Drone Hopper-Gsport-Teika), the latter being the new junior champion.

Campeonato de Castilla y León CRI
Cabañas Raras – Cabañas Raras (11,7 km CRI)

Sunday also saw the time trials to decide the new regional champions in Castilla y León in several categories, including the U19 category.

In the fight for the title, which took place in the town of Cabañas Raras in the province of Bierzo, was the rider from Puebla, Iván Polo. The cyclist from Valladolid set the second best time of the day (14’12”), four seconds behind Juan Hermosa (Recambios Callejo). Yeray Sastre (MMR), with 14’13”, completed the podium.

Montbrió del Camp – Montbrió del Camp (114 km)

Another of the important events of the day was held in Tarragona. The town of Montbrió del Camp hosted a race in which the Catalan road race title for the junior category was at stake and in which Joan Cadena, Joel Díaz and Nil Aguilera took part.

The last climb to the Cota del Gorgs was key. The group broke up on its ramps. Four riders stood out there, including Nil Aguilera, who ended up catching two riders who had previously escaped. Six riders fought for the title in the final straight, with victory for Miquel Morales (Bathco).

Joel Díaz and Joan Cadena, seventh and eighth respectively, headed a main bunch that crossed the finish line one minute later.

Campeonato de Cantabria Ruta
Treceño – Treceño (87,3 km)

The Cantabrian David Puente, recent winner of the time trial in which the title of the modality was at stake, could not fight for the double on Sunday in the road modality.

The Guriezo rider finished 30th, more than nine minutes behind the MMR pair Rafael Martínez and Hugo de la Calle, who arrived together at the finish line. The regional title went to Martínez.

VIII Gran Premio Salchi – Ayuntamiento de Coslada
Coslada – Coslada (60 km)

Alem Herráiz from Madrid took part on Saturday in a new edition of the race in Coslada, which was held on a vibrant circuit, short but not lacking in technique and with a final stretch on a slight slope, in the surroundings of the Humedal park. Herráiz finished ninth in a race where the victory went to Jorge García (Entrenamientociclismo.com).
