Nil Aguilera finishes fourth in Orduña after a Bizkaia Klasika in the fight for EOLO-KOMETA
50º Bizkaia Klasika – Urduña Hiria Junior Saria / Copa de España
Orduña – Orduña (115,2 km)
Fourth place for Nil Aguilera and seventh for David Puente in a Bizkaia Klasika, third round of the Spanish Cup 2022 of the category, in which the final victory went to Hugo de la Calle. A late attack allowed him to finish ahead by almost thirty seconds over his closest pursuers, among whom was Aguilera.
The Catalan was very offensive throughout the day and carried out several attacks to lead the race for many moments. He was no exception. Álex García, César Puente and David Puente were also involved in some of the many movements in a race with a tense start, with several pile-ups in the first kilometres. As a result of one of them, Cup leader Pablo Lospitao retired.
Guillermo Gutiérrez, director of the junior team: “It was an extremely demanding day both because of the course, which was really hard, and because of the initial tension that caused some important crashes and created, due to the withdrawal of the leader, a phase of certain confusion. The whole day went very fast. The team was great, keeping the race under control until some of our trump cards started to move. That’s why we value the team victory as a reflection of this spectacular work. Both Nil and David have shown that they are in a great moment and continue to take steps forward. Today they have been, together with Álex, practically all day at the front”.
