Diego Pablo Sevilla will be next week in the Quick-Step training camp

Diego Pablo Sevilla, one of the riders with the greatest projection of Polartec-Alberto Contador Foundation Team, will attend next week the training camp that Quick-Step Team will celebrate in Calpe (Alicante, Spain).

Sevilla, which this year will celebrate his fifth season in the ranks of the Contador Foundation (2 years as junior and 3 years as Sub-23), thus begins a crucial year for him, in which he is called to be one of the pillars of the team. “For me it’s a very important year, when I have to prove whether or not I’m worth for this job, so starting with Quick-Step is something impressive”, says the Madrid-born rider from San Martín de La Vega.

For him, the experience of spending a week together with a ProTour team “gives me a lot of motivation and the opportunity to see firsthand how a professional team works. If I can pass to professionals, I’ll know what I’m going to find”, he says.

Sevilla is eager to meet personally many who are almost idols for him. “I’m struck by many Quick-Step cyclists”, he says, “but of course I’m excited to meet and ride with people like Boonen, Kittel, Trepstra or Stybar, to name just a few. They are top notch people and they win many races every year”.

Diego Pablo Sevilla follows in the footsteps of other Alberto Contador Foundation riders who have experienced similar experiences, such as Enric Mas (professional in the Belgian team this year), Álvaro Cuadros, Fernando Barceló and Kenny Molly, with whom he will meet again in Calpe, Or Peio Olaberria, another of the riders whom he has been a teammate and who is now a professional in Murias Team. “That doesn’t mean I’m under pressure”, he says. “On the contrary, all I want is to enjoy the experience. For me it’s a gift from the Wise Men to be able to train with such good riders. It will be my motivation to give it all this year”.
