Álex Martín and Carlos Rodríguez, to racing in France with the Spanish national team

The French Trophée Centre Morbihan is once again highlighting the junior Nations Cup this weekend, promoted by the International Cycling Union (UCI). The Breton event, the fourth on the calendar of this Cup, will take place between Friday and Sunday on four stages (Saturday’s is divided into two sectors) and will have two members of the Polartec-Kometa among the six riders called up by coach Paco Cerezo.

Carlos Rodríguez from Granada and Álex Martín from Catalonia are once again present in a team completed by Sergio Trueba, Mario Aparicio, Josu Echeverria and Pau Miquel. “I feel good and it also gives me more confidence to have already been to Ghent-Wevelgem and the Tour des Portes du Pays d´Othe, races that are very evenly matched in terms of level. I’m looking forward to the event with the desire to contribute as much as I can to the national team and, above all, to have a presence in the race,” said Martín.

The Trophée Centre Morbihan starts on Friday with a 124 km stage with start and finish in Pontivy. On Saturday, a first seven kilometre time trial will be held between Réguiny and Evellys and a second one, in line, over 100 kilometres. To close the race, a 100.7 km trip between Bignan and Locmine with five final laps to a 7.2 km circuit where a demanding slope will be faced.

“We have a great selection, with people who already have international experience, something that is worth a lot in this type of commitment,” said coach Paco Cerezo on the Spanish Federation’s website, who also argues that “the key to these events is the cyclists’ confidence in their possibilities”.
