David Puente was introduced to cycling by a family member. “It was my stepfather, Angel, who got me into it. He practiced cycling for many years. He didn’t turn professional, but he competed at other levels. I would see him, talk to him, watch videos and races…” he remembers. A friend offered him the definitive argument for falling in love with this discipline. “He had a very old racing bike, an old model; it didn’t matter, it was a spectacular bike. The adrenaline of that experience, the speed, the descents… Cycling became a passion,” he adds. After that experience he tried to join a cycling academy in Colindres. The condition was to be able to continue his studies, something he would achieve while advancing his first steps in a cycling structure. Little by little, he has grown sportily. This past campaign he rode the Ciclos Moli, from which he promotes the Contador Foundation after participating in the 2020 Selection Campus. A year in which he showed great consistency with several top ten places in a row and silver medals in the Cantabrian Championships, both on the road and against the clock.
