Arnau Gilabert and Antonio González, with the Spanish national cycling team
In line with the initiatives already experienced by the senior men’s and women’s teams, new categories are being added to the campaign of sports concentrations promoted by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation on the Alicante coast. Between Monday 13 and Sunday 19 it will be the turn of a call for young cyclists, this time with the presence of the Kometa-Xstra Cycling Team. And for a double start.
The Catalan Arnau Gilabert and the Castilian-Leonese Antonio González have been called for this experience by the coach of the category, the manchego Paco Cerezo. A concentration that will have its center of operations in the Hotel Cap Negre of the Levantine population.
“The objective of this meeting will be to carry out a series of training sessions and tests that will allow our technical staff to evaluate the physical condition of the athletes before facing the important challenges that still await in 2020, such as the European Championships in Plouay (August 24-28) and the World Championships (September 20-27)”, says the Spanish Cycling Federation.
Gilabert and González will accompany some of the most outstanding riders of the Spanish junior scene in this experience. Juan Ayuso, Igor Arrieta, Jorge Gutiérrez, Juan Marín, Jaime Romero, Pablo Carrascosa, Antonio Nieto, Rubén Sánchez, Marc Terrasa and Jaime Guardeño complete the event.
“The truth is that it’s a great joy, I didn’t expect the pone call and when he told me that he would go to Altea to concentrate with the national team, a smile fell on my face. In the end this shows that we are doing things right and we are on the right track for the next competitions. I’m sure they’ll be very intense and very pleasant days with all my teammates and I’m looking forward to being there with them,” said González.
Arnau Gilabert, for his part, said: “I’ve been very excited since the moment I received the news of this call. I think it’s a big step, we have to enjoy and learn from this experience”.
