An afternoon against the clock with anecdotes, spikes and a lot of camaraderie in the Zwift universe
A 27.9 kilometer ride, three laps of the New York Gotham Grind circuit, was the scene this Tuesday of a new experience for the Kometa-Xstra Cycling Team junior in the Zwift universe, again thanks to the collaboration of Amg HERO and Amigos de Zwift (AMZ). This event, celebrated under the formula of the individual time trial, was starred by six riders of the junior staff: Pedro Beneit, Samuel de Pablo, Arnau Gilabert, David Gimeno, Antonio González and José Luis Medina. Director Guillermo Gutiérrez accompanied Luis de Pedro on this occasion in the task of mastering the ceremony.
The time trial was once again characterised by many anecdotes, from the warm-up of the Catalan Gilabert to the puncture of the Alicante Beneit or his small pulse with the Cadiz-born Medina in the virtual 10% of the small climb to Harlem Hill.
An initiative, in short, dispute for the fun of participants from a different prism. “This is harder than I thought,” says Pablo’s Madrid native. Rolling at 300 watts, De Pablo pedals to catch the Soriano Gonzalez. “I came out like a rocket, I came up, and now it’s time to pay for it”, jokes Gilabert. “This even seems harder than the real races,” adds González. “The something fun and ends up hooking”, brings Guillermo Gutiérrez.
“This kind of initiative has been a small incentive to make the one-hour or one-and-a-half hour sessions on the roller more bearable when it has not been possible to go outside”. “A time of fun, and even more fun because it is with good friends,” Medina says. Cantabrian Quevedo, fourth in the final classification, was the Kometa-Xstra runner who later finished in the final classification. “Yes, yes, if you have a good time… but you get a good heat”, he smiles.
