Alvaro Cuadros signed in Prague his new contract with the Etixx-iHNed Continental Team

Alvaro Cuadros, the Specialized-Alberto Contador Foundation rider that has offered the best performance this season and was already selected in the ‘training talent’ of the Omega Pharma-Quick Step last spring, has signed a two-year contract with the continental team Etixx-iHNed, a subsidiary of this World Tour Team.

The Granadian cyclist today traveled to Prague with Fran Contador, manager of Specialized-Alberto Contador Foundation Team to formalize a commitment that will link him over the next two seasons with the team led by former professional cyclist René Andrle.

“We are proud and it’s a satisfaction to see our first rider to go up and we have always supported him”, says Fran Contador. “This is a proof that we are doing things right and that the Alberto Contador Foundation has an international impact, which motivates us to continue working in this line of training young talents at the same time it is also a motivation for riders that will continue with us and for those that arrive this year to the Junior and Under 23 teams. Although the crisis of teams in Spain is very tough, this shows that there are other options and we will work on them”, said the manager of Specialized-Alberto Contador Foundation Team.

Alvaro Cuadros, meanwhile, acknowledged that he is living “a dream, because I go to a good team”. For him everything that happened this year was a surprise, since “I expected to ride well, but not so well.  I have expected good results, because last year I didn’t have much luck, although when I was fine was with those in the front. But from there to sign for the Etixx-iHNed there is much difference, as cycling is now and more coming from the junior category”.

Cuadros not only will jump to a continental team, but also to a foreign team, which makes him even more motivated because, he says, “I have a lot of curiosity to see how are the races I’m going to do and how it goes with my new teammates». And of course, he doesn’t forget the role played by the team he now abandons in all of this. “The year I spent in the Specialized-Alberto Contador Foundation has been very good, I learned a lot as a cyclist and I got a lot of friends who will always be there. This team has had most of the blame for what is happening to me, because it was a good showcase, I have run many races and its impact has been very important. If I haven’t been here, they wouldn’t have noticed me”.
